![]() Just so I'm clear and less stressed about the purchase, the red glow is normal? Seems that I can eliminate it by turning off features, but is it something out of the ordinary when A5 is enabled? Does the viewfinder normally show red briefly when illuminating the point or points? Unfortunately, I like the focus point indicating that it's acquired focus - with my older Canon the point illuminated but had no effect on the rest of the viewfinder, I kind of miss that. Turning on the grid did help, and turning off focus point illumination did eliminate the red "glow" entirely. ![]() Shut it off at Custom Function A5 Focus Point Illumination > AF Point Illumination > Off That's Focus point illumination and I find it annoying as well. ![]() pg 280 in the manual custom settings menu d d7 Turn on your grid it gets more natural looking. I haven't had a chance to run out and check local stores to see if this is normal behavior for this camera, but it's certainly not fun shooting through the red haze. What is an issue is that I get a red glow across the viewfinder screen as I'm focusing - the viewfinder looks like I have a red filter attached to the lens. When I'm in autofocus mode and I half press shutter release to focus, I get the red focusing squares illuminating as expected, whether single or multipoint, no problem there. This is my first Nikon DSLR, previous experience was with Canon and this was never an issue. Just bought a refurb D7200 during Nikon's Black Friday sale. D7200 viewfinder red glow when autofocusing.
